Milford Sound, Invercargill and Dunedin

After our shenanigans, adventures and relaxing in Queenstown, we were back on the bus again. I vividly recall being the coldest I have been since I left the UK: ice was building up on the windows of the bus as we set off, and the sleeping bags were out in force to keep us warm.

We had a lovely tour of the Milford Sound, and the drive up from Te Anau was spectacular. The fiordland, one could see, would have been perfect for Lord of the Rings; quite easy to imagine young Frodo and Sam floating through there trying to find that sodding Mount Doom.

After devouring the chocolate eclair ice cream Steve and Sara so generously left, we played spoons in my room. Kelly and Kristin were masters, I was a 'spoo', but Fredi was the full spoon due to impaired reflexes, the accomplice most probably that bottle of red she put away.

It was then on to flat and unattractive Invercargill, the two highlights being our top quality hostel and the acquatic centre. The girls and I decided to pop in there to have a look at the cool slide (which was closed) and the wave machine (which was pretty tame). Nevertheless a good way to pass some time, chill out in a spa and watch Fred and Kel put in valiant efforts to get me off a foam board.

Dunedin, a few highlights here. Initially being checked into another dorm, I sacked that off and stayed with Kel and Fred - our own TV, fridge and bathroom was much more inviting. And of course sharing with the lovely ladies is always a bonus heh.

We popped into the Cadbury factory to be taken round a granny on speed, offered free chocolate, and reminders of 'don't forget to shake' our chocolate milk. I love that advert. Topping off the lazy day with gorgeous pizza and the OC, we were off to bed relatively early in anticipation of our big night in Christchurch, only after scaling the world's steepest street in Dunedin! Of course GI Anna decided to run up it, crazy girl.
